Lionel Messi is a major doubt for FC Barcelona's crucial meeting with FC Internazionale Milano after picking up a groin injury in Saturday's 1-1 Spanish Liga draw with Athletic Club Bilbao, though there is better news regarding Zlatan Ibrahimović and Rafael Márquez.

Tests inconclusive
Messi was replaced 14 minutes from time at San Mamés and initial tests were inconclusive. The club will continue to monitor him ahead of Tuesday's Group G meeting with Inter at Camp Nou, when defeat would end Barcelona's knockout round ambitions should FC Rubin Kazan overcome FC Dynamo Kyiv elsewhere in the section. There is some positive news for coach Josep Guardiola, however, as Ibrahimović is making good progress from the hamstring injury that has kept him sidelined since 7 November. Barcelona have also confirmed that Márquez has not contracted swine flu, despite displaying symptoms of the virus that has affected Eric Abidal and Yaya Touré.
